R Workshop
The MASS Introduction to R Workshop was a valuable opportunity for students participating in the MASS*ASS case competition to enhance their foundational skills in R programming. A highly engaged group of students attended and actively participated throughout the session. Deelaka began by covering essential topics like data structures and operations, laying the groundwork for programming in R. This was followed by more case competition-specific material, including data importing and visualization techniques. The workshop maintained an interactive format, with real-world examples used to apply the concepts, and students frequently asked questions to deepen their understanding. Overall, the event was a success, providing students with essential R programming knowledge—a key tool for actuaries. MASS looks forward to continuing this momentum with more educational workshops in the future
Excel Workshop
MASS hosted an Excel Workshop which taught the fundamentals of a common yet powerful data tool. Presented by Brett Inder, the workshop provided useful tips whilst also building skills and advancing our members' knowledge of Excel.
