Alex Tan

President 2024/2025

Hi! My name is Alex, and it gives me great honour to serve as MASS president in 2025. After serving as Vice President in 2024 and within the subcommittee in 2023, I am looking forward to the challenge of stepping up into the role of president.

Through MASS, I have met so many people I am glad to call my friends today. As a first-year, I was incredibly nervous not knowing anyone doing actuarial science from high school. Partially by luck, I found out about MASS at O-week and attended my first event for the free pizza dinner. I was surprised to see how welcoming and friendly the community at MASS is, and overtime I’m glad to have built up so many of the relationships I have formed over the past 2 years at MASS. Next year, I see us fostering the same community to help new and existing MASS member to have a similar, if not better experience than what I have had at MASS so far.

At MASS, our mission is to foster a diverse and inclusive community for all Actuarial students. A key focus of everyone involved in the club is providing members with opportunities and experiences that are not taught in a lecture theatre. Whether it is making friends at our games nights, hearing industry insights from a firm representative at corporate cocktails or learning more about the academic pathways through our information sessions, MASS seeks to provide members with an enriching experience throughout their time in university.

As we step into 2025, I am enthusiastic about collaborating with the new committee, confident that together, we will propel MASS to greater heights of success and achievement.
