MASS Mentoring

The mentoring program has been revamped and expanded for 2017 and onward. The aim the program is to provide comprehensive guidance to first year actuarial students and simultaneously raise awareness about the growing prevalence of actuarial studies. A primary goal of MASS has been to holistically grow the club and promote a tight knit culture among its members. This program seeks to achieve this goal by allowing third-year and later actuarial students act as mentors to incoming first-year actuarial students.

Being a mentor/mentee has many perks such as the opportunity to develop communication, leadership, teamwork and socialisation skills, all of which are highly valued by potential employers. Participants will gain valuable insight from their peers on ways to approach different situations, a source of support and encouragement, and someone to share your experiences with.
Additionally, all successful mentors will receive a signed certificate from Collin O’Hare, the head of Actuarial Studies at Monash University.
